This week, the Bridging the Gap “Coffee Platoon” began distributing their blends of coffee at all three ShopRite locations in Hunterdon County as well as locations in Yardley and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Bridging the Gap is a nonprofit that works to “open career doors for veterans and spouses to veteran-friendly corporations.”
The blends, each with a patriotic or service-specific theme, include Stars & Stripes, Freedom Blend (Decaf), Army Strong, Anchors Away, Semper Fi, Aim High and Semper Paratus. They include both dark roasted and mild blends. Other products, which will be available soon, include tea and hot chocolate. Profits from all sales go toward opening career doors to the military community transitioning into a civilian career.
“I am delighted to have the Bridging the Gap patriotic blends of coffee on the shelves in our local ShopRite stores throughout Hunterdon County”, according to Joseph Colalillo, CEO and president of ShopRite/Wakefern, “We are always proud to support programs that provide career opportunities to our residents, especially our men and women who have served in the military,” he added.
According to Mike Ferraro, president and founder of Bridging the Gap, “We are very pleased of our new relationship with Mr. Colalillo and ShopRite.” He added, “We are confident that the residents of Hunterdon County will support our delicious products and by doing so assist us in providing training and other career services to county military veterans.”
Companies and civic organizations interested in sponsoring a “Coffee Platoon” and providing these blends every month to Hunterdon County veterans’ organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, First Responders and National Guard and/or Reserve units should contact Bridging the Gap at www.bridgingthegap.vet for additional information.
